Keith Urban was the recipient of the Nashville Symphony Harmony Award Saturday night for “exemplifying the harmonious spirit of Nashville’s thriving music community.”  He attended the Symphony Ball solo because his wife, Nicole Kidman, is currently in Belgium working on a movie, which is where he was until Friday night when he flew back to Nashville for the event.  When Keith found out he was receiving the award and what it meant, he said, “It’s a huge honor! When they told me not only that I was receiving it, but the past recipients, too, I thought I was in a really unique, exclusive wonderful club. “  One thing Keith loves the most is that the award isn’t just about shining the spotlight on him.  “I just love the fact that the award in itself creates awareness for the music community in Nashville,” he said, “much like when we do ‘All For The Hall’.  It’s a fun event, and we raise a lot of money, but we also raise a lot of awareness.”

Tonight Keith is in Las Vegas for the American Country Awards.  He will be putting on a special performance with a group of young musicians from the Grammy Foundation’s Grammy Camp, to help highlight the need to support music education for young people.  Keith is excited to perform with the kids, but he’s even more excited that the American Country Awards will be presenting $25,000 to the Grammy Foundation’s Grammy in the Schools programs, and he says the performance, “was sort of a perfect opportunity to bring them onstage and let ‘em play, because that’s what it’s all about.”
