David Nail has indicated that he’s in a different, much more positive place in his life and that his new attitude had a definite impact on his new album, I’m A Fire, in the form of a new energy. He recently opened up about where that new energy came from. “To be honest and blunt as I can possibly be, I’ve been depressed my entire life and just dealt with so many insecurities and it kind of came to a head a couple years ago when ‘Let It Rain’ was #1 and I had all these good things going on and I just wasn’t happy. And to be perfectly honest with you, I just bottomed out.”
David tried for years to deal with the depression on his own and for a long time he thought success would make him happy, but when that didn’t happen he finally realized he needed help. Speaking candidly he says, “I’ve been going to counseling for a couple of years now and take a lot of really expensive medicines and just made a lot of changes in my personal life. I’ve learned not to take life so serious and to kind of enjoy it and had a lot of help in doing that.”
Prior to seeking help, David says what a lot of people didn’t know or didn’t understand was that he would wake up with an emotional deficit, and he says, “It was so hard for me just to get to zero, much less get to a ten and have a great day. It seemed like it was a constant grind to find something to latch onto.”
Fortunately with the help he’s received over the last couple of years, David says, “I have a lot more good days than bad days now, and there’s a lot of people responsible for that.” He knows the people who love and care about him probably wish he would have gotten help a lot sooner, but he says, “better late than never.”
David’s new album, I’m A Fire, featuring his #1 single, “Whatever She’s Got” and his new single, “Kiss you Good Night,” will be released on Tuesday, March 4th.
