Darius Rucker will join Lady Antebellum on the second leg of their Own the Night Tour, which kicks off this Friday, as one of their opening acts with Thompson Square, and he recently revealed to Taste of Country that he never wants to headline concerts anymore. When he was out on the Brad Paisley Tour Justin Moore asked him why he didn’t want to headline shows and Darius told him, “Dude, there is no place we’re playing right now that I haven’t sold out [with Hootie and the Blowfish].” When we go out with Lady A, there’s not going to be a single building we’ll play that I haven’t sold out twice. I’m not trying to get there again. I’m excited to play music, but I’m old, man … I like playing for 50 minutes [laughs]!” Plus Darius loves the camaraderie of touring with other country acts. He says what he’s looking forward to the most about the Lady A tour is becoming better friends with them. “I think I’m already pretty good friends with them, but when you tour together every day, you gel.” Darius says getting to go out, play a shorter set and hang out with everybody is like heaven to him.
