Carrie Underwood is married to NHL star Mike Fisher, but for some people who consider Carrie the star of the couple, they like to refer to Mike as “Mr. Underwood,” and she is not a fan of that at all. She’s the cover girl on the new issue of Allure, and she told the magazine that when the media referred to her husband by that name, particularly when he was traded from the Ottawa Senators to the Nashville Predators in 2011, “It made me feel awful.” It bothers her because she says, “Somebody works real hard to make a name for themselves, a respectable name, and then it’s ‘Mr. Underwood.'”
Unfortunately for Carrie, because the NHL lockout took so long to get settled, she missed the opportunity to see her husband play in as many games this year as she had hoped. “I had purposely decided to take January semi-off [from my Blown Away Tour] at least so I could be home more so I could watch hockey and then here we are, there’s not been any hockey,” she laments. She did get to attend the first game of the season for the Predators on Friday night and she says, “At least I’ll get to take in a couple games before we head back out on the road and I guess that’ll just have to be enough. We make sure to have the hockey Center Ice on the bus so I can watch on TV, which is not as fun.”
Usually when Carrie is touring and Mike is playing hockey full time they often pass like ships in the night but she says, “I don’t really know if our paths will ever really cross. A little bit, surely, I haven’t really mapped it out I guess yet.” Carrie will re-launch her Blown Away Tour for 2013 on February 13th in Colorado Springs.
