Lady Antebellum will get to cross an item off the top of their bucket list tomorrow night when they perform on Saturday Night Live. They’ll perform two songs off of their Own the Night CD and Dave Haywood explains, “Growing up, I mean, for me that was when I would stay up to midnight to see who was playing on that show back when I was watching Nirvana play and all these bands back in the early ‘90s and whatever. This is, for me, kind of the stamp, and I cannot wait just to be in that studio… [I] couldn’t be more thrilled about that one, for me personally.” The show will be hosted by actress Melissa McCarthy, who just won an Emmy for her portrayal of Molly on the CBS sitcom Mike & Molly, and she was also in the movie Bridesmaids.
Every year Jason Aldean hosts a Concert for the Cure to help raise money for breast cancer awareness and research. For several years he hosted it at Nashville’s Wildhorse Saloon, but he felt like he was limiting himself on how much money he could raise, so now each year he picks a show on his calendar that is near October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and he designates it as his Concert for the Cure. His show tonight in Roanoke, Virginia will be that show. It’s important to Jason to do this every year because he lost a close friend to breast cancer, plus he says, “I have a wife, I’ve got a mom, I’ve got two girls at home that if there’s not a cure found for this thing at some point it’s something they may have to deal with in the future… The disease sucks. So it’s something to me that I think is important and we want to continue to do every year and try to raise as much money as we can and do our part to help find a cure.”

On October 15th The American Cancer Society will host their “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5 Mile Walk” in Nashville, and in honor of Martina McBride’s new song, “I’m Gonna Love You Through It,” her fans from all over the country have assembled a team of walkers from six states to participate in the walk, with a goal of raising $11,000 for breast cancer research. They chose the $11,000 figure because of Martina’s new album, Eleven, which will be in stores on October 10th, and if the fundraising goal is met, one of the female members of Team Martina will shave her head in honor of those fighting breast cancer. You can help them raise their fundraising goal by logging onto teammartina.com to make a donation.

Tim McGraw chatted with NFL Network’s Rich Eisen via Skype earlier this week about everything from football to his new movie, Dirty Girl, which opens in theaters next Friday. Tim had a lot to say about his hometown team, the Tennessee Titans, and how he thinks they’ll do this season with a new quarterback and a new coach. Tim said he grew up as a New Orleans Saints fan since he’s from Louisiana, but since he’s lived in Nashville for over 20 years, if the Saints were to meet the Titans in a Super Bowl he would have to cheer for the Titans because they are his team now. Tim is also a huge LSU fan and he says his whole family is a football family, even though he lives in a house full of girls. In fact, his passion for LSU has rubbed off on his middle daughter Maggie so much that she wants to go to LSU for college. Talking about his new movie, “Dirty Girl,” Tim told Rich, “I’m only in a small part in the movie, but it’s a pretty pivotal part … It’s about a girl’s journey to find her dad … It’s something that’s dear to me, and something I related to,” since Tim was adopted and found out later in life that his real dad was MLB pitcher Tug McGraw. Tim’s Skype chat on the Rich Eisen podcast will re-air on the NFL Network today, tomorrow and Sunday.

First it was Jason Aldean’s head and now it’s Lady Antebellum’s logo that has been carved into a corn maze. A five-acre farm at Steed’s Dairy in Grovetown, Georgia created the tribute to the group, and the maze will be open for people to try to navigate through early November. Grovetown is near Augusta, Georgia, where both Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood grew up.
