Shania Twain on the Short List for American Idol

As American Idol prepares to launch its tenth season, the question of who will fill Simon Cowell’s seat at the judges table still remains unanswered.  Rumor has it Shania Twain is on the short list of celebrities being considered, which also includes Justin Timberlake, Elton John and Harry Connick, Jr.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, FOX is hoping to lure former Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe back to the show, and if that happens there may be more than one open seat to fill at the judges table because Nigel says he would “clean house” if it were up to him.  Randy Jackson would likely survive the cuts and Ellen DeGeneres has a multi-year contract with FOX, but Kara DioGuardi would likely be sent packing since she has a year-to-year contract that has not been renewed yet for the new season.  Season 10 of American Idol will begin sometime this winter on FOX.
