George Strait kicked off his The Cowboy Rides Away finale tour Friday night in Lubbock, Texas. While he is not retiring from music, he has decided this will be his last major tour of his career, and the fans are responding to the special event by snapping up tickets and selling out most shows in a matter of minutes. Martina McBride is opening for George on the tour, which will include 21 dates this year and more dates to be announced in 2014.
George had the honor of presenting U.S. Marine Corps E-3/Lance Corporal Christopher Allen with a key to a mortgage-free home during the middle of his show, as part of his new partnership with the Military Warriors Support Foundation’s (MWSF) “Homes 4 Wounded Heroes” (H4WH) program. He will present one key to a deserving service member at each of his tour stops in 2013. For more information on MWSF, please visit militarywarriors.org.
