Darius Rucker has been working on a new album and over the weekend he revealed he has recorded a version of “Wagon Wheel,” originally recorded by the folk/alt-country band Old Crow Medicine Show (OCMS), for the new project. He appeared on the Grand Ole Opry Friday night and sang the song, and afterward he tweeted, “Secret out after @opry perf – I recorded a version of “Wagon Wheel” for my new record & @ladyantebellum sings on track.” The song is unique in that it was written by OCMS lead singer Ketch Secor, based on an unfinished song he heard on a Bob Dylan work tape when he was a teenager. The song has since been covered many times, and it will appear on Darius’ new album, which he hopes to release in October.
